Last January, 19th, at about 12.30pm, just past the St Kilda Junction en route to the Five Mile Beach, my wife and I spotted two Ground parrot on the up hill side of the fire trail in healthy heath. It was a cool day with close cloud cover. The day was most memorable for the large number of Tellow Tail Black Cockatoo, the grey currawaongs and a brush bronzewing at Chinaman Creek. Down on Five Mile Beach there was also a wonderful Australian Hobby and a beach cast Little penguin as well as live Sooty Oystercatchers. Incidentally, the camp at Miranda Creek is a most relaxing spot. Brian Everingham PO Box 269 Engadine NSW 2233 |
