Heard and saw my first Channel-billed Cuckoo for the season in Townsville this morning. Perhaps after Sunday's record rainfall it could be excused for thinking the wet season had already begun. A Koel has been calling for about six weeks now but I suspect it over-wintered here. I shall be in Sydney (Manly) next week and would be grateful if anyone could tell me where I could find a Lewin's Rail and Sooty Owl. I shan't be on e-mail after Friday but my phone number in Sydney is 9939 6798. Thanks Jo |
