Your villian is a Black-shouldered Kite, a small bird of prey, that is
common around the Darling Downs. Incidentally, it's also the emblem of the
Toowoomba Bird Observers because, as you said, it IS a little darling,
despite its choice of a dining table!
I've forwarded your message to Birding-Aus hoping someone can provide a
solution, as I imagine this a potential problem with any weather station,
both here and overseas.
