On Sunday August 16 there were 5 Tawny Frogmouths roosting in a small pine tree in Centennial Park. They were all within a circle of one meter. I guess they were parents and the progeny of last years two broods. First time I've seen more than two together. The pine is on the south side of the Grand Drive east of the brick lined drain. When you park your car a noisy miner will arrive and attack its image in your rear vision mirrors. On the large pond that has just been refurbished a Musk Duck male was giving a mating display of whistling, tail erecting over the body and flicking water. No females were in attendance but a Great Cormorant swam to about half a meter which caused the display to stop. The cormorant then dived under the Musk Duck which caused it to paddle off frantickally. Didn' want his wedding tackle interfered with.Stuart Fairbairn.Sydney ph 02 93632042 |
