Hi all , My common name recollection from childhood is " Beechies " for White-fronted Chats, these were a very common bird of the semi-tidal samphire flats on Homebush Bay before it became a smelly mess of industrial waste - now given a new lease on life. I think the name may be derived in some way from the name" Bicheno " although just how this could come about is not clear to me . Any ideas? Reg Clark 11 Carmen St St Ives NSW,2075 |
