There are still four Freckled Duck at Gum Swamp, Forbes 393 km west of Sydney. They were on a log in the middle of the lagoon, being circled by Pink-eared and Blue-billed ducks & Hoary-headed Grebe. Quite a sight! Other good birds seen on the weekend: Musk Lorikeets at the Western Plains zoo at Dubbo and Blue Bonnets at Gunningbland. The inland rains continue. I wonder if there will be a repeat of the conditions which brought on the miles of Mitchell Grass just east of Broken Hill. This invited good flocks of Flock Pigeons and many quail. There is so much Mugga Ironbark and White Box in bud that come spring the honeyeaters wont know were to go. Trevor & Annie Quested Sydney, Australia Phone +61 2 9955 6266 Fax + 61 2 9959 4005 |
