Dear birders, There has been some discussion recently about Apostlebirds in South Australia - or a lack thereof. Just what is the status of the species in SA? I have done extensive birdwatching throughout the Murray Mallee and Mid North districts of this state and the only time I have seen Apostlebirds was in 1984 just east of Peterborough (32 55S 138 55E). The nearest other sightings were at Hattah Kulkyne NP in Victoria where they are common - especially in the camping ground where you almost step on them as you move around your camp site. Happy birding, Trevor Hampel Murray Bridge South Australia |
