Hello All, Niels, David and Martin are commenting on what seems to me to be the biggest environmental issue facing us today ( possibly next to over-population ). Those wishing to exploit land must accept a primary responsibility for everything that uses that land before pursuing their own plans to "develop" it. I am afraid this will recquire a change in human nature as well as legislative controls. In the short term, before this social miracle takes place, the acquisition of properties such as Gluepot (by Birds Australia) may be the way to go with a view to establishing permanent corridors of habitats throughout the continent. A problem of this nature clearly calls for action at the Federal level, ignoring our artificial boundaries and providing the necessary finance. Reg Clark St Ives, NSW. |
