Hi all,
Here's the trip report for the most recent Portland Pelagic trip that sailed
on Sunday 12 July.
Those on Board: Mike Carter, Rohan Clarke, Rory O'Brian, Harry Clarke, Peter
Barrand, George Appleby, Tim Murphy, Richard Walsh, Andrew Silcox, Ted Shimba.

Weather: Forecast light winds and clear skies proved inaccurate. Wind 10 to
15 knots increased to 15 to 20 knots in the late morning before easing in
the early afternoon. Mostly cloudy. Sea rising to moderate offshore with 2 -
3 metre swell.

Trip curtailed due to start being delayed by half-hour and sloppy sea off
Cape Bridgewater. Furthest point reached 10 miles SW of Lawrence rocks
(still 10 miles from the shelf) as a result number of birds observed lower
than expected.

Species:
Black-browed Albatross 50 (35) all nom. race (one with 1 blue band)
Yellow-nosed Albatross 1
Shy Albatross 50 (35) (1 with white band on R leg, metal on L leg)
Salvins Albatross 1 adult (possibly also 1 immature)

Information supplied by Mike Carter who can be contacted on 03 9787 7136 for

Cheers
