Just a quick report back on my trip to Rainbow Beach, Qld 18 - 22 May.

But first, thanks to everyone who was kind enough to email me with
directions to the best spot to look for Ground Parrots (and also to those
who gave me helpful advice about binoculars). My hard drive crashed 6
weeks ago and has only just been fixed, so I was not able to email everyone
personally to thank them (and I seem to have lost all my old mail as well).

Anyway, I followed the directions and SUCCESS! Yes, I saw a ground parrot
-- one was cooperative enough to break cover behind me as I was attempting
to call up some wrens. No emu-wrens, but got a great look at a brown
falcon perched on the power lines, and also a dozen or so brown quail which
ambled out of the heath and across the track just on dusk. Also, in
Rainbow Beach, got a lovely view of two peregrine falcons (one imm.)
soaring just in front of the house I was staying at.

Thanks again,

Vicki PS
