I've seen Little and Cattle egrets together a few times but not that often (I THINK Belmont Common in Geelong was the last place, but I'd have to check my records on the Littles - I've certainly seen Intermediate, Great and Cattle there, but not all at once). Also on Egrets - do Great Egret pairs wandering fairly widely apart from each other - i.e. if I see 2 individuals within 1-2Km are they a likely pair? And what about Spoonbills? Lately there have been quite a few near my home, and at least two mixed pair seem to be getting on well enough (i.e. two pairs of Royal+Yellow-billed). Or do they just happen to like to forrage together? Russell Woodford Geelong |
