There have been about 20 Rainbow and 15 Musk Lorrikeeets in the woods near my place at Shellharbour, about 130 Km south of Sydney for a week but there is no blossom in the Wooly-butts they are in. I observed them running the new shoots and leaves that have sprouted since the rains last month through their beaks, but not nipping any off. I can only assume that there is something sugary on the leaves that they can extract nutrient from. The shoots are too high to get to. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks Chris |
