G'day All,
Yesterday I spent some time in the Brisbane Valley (the agricultural
area between Ipswich and Toowoomba) We had an excellent day's birding
despite the showers and I was fortunate to be shown a pair of
Blue-winged Kookaburra near Atkinson's Dam ( I will give the exact
location privately if anyone wants to check them out...drop me a line on

We were also lucky to see 100+ Plum-headed Finch, 20-50 White-backed
Swallow and several Brown-headed Honeyeater near Helidon (no Grey Falcon
at Hood's Lagoon, though!)
At Seven-mile Lagoon, 3 Ground Cuckoo-Shrike, 2 Australian Hobby, Brown
Falcon and several Gull-billed Tern were hawking and hunting for insects
on the cattle pasture (there is very little water at present)
Apparently there are up to 8 Freckled Duck on Atkinson's Dam currently
(though we missed these)
