Hi all,
After a quiet couple of months at last something to talk about.

During April, 2 Rufous Owls were reported from the Cairns Botanic Gardens
Boardwalk.

May 2nd Immature Black-breasted Buzzard, Pelican Point, Lake Tinaroo,
Atherton Tableland. (up the hill behind Cairns).

May 8th Andy Anderson reported a flock (?) of Pink-eared Ducks had been
seen by a visitor on the Cairns Esplanade, not sure how many.

May 9th I saw 4 Banded Lapwings foraging at Cairns Airport. The odd single
bird has turned up on the coast but it is quiet unusual.
Previous years have seen an isolated population near Mareeba at the
northern end of the Atherton Tableland Queensland, these have possibly been
breeding in this area.

Chris Dahlberg reported influxes of Welcome Swallows and Fairy Martins at
Daintree (north of Cairns 11/2hrs), last week. I also noticed the build up
of numbers in Cairns at the same time, several hundred of each species in a
mixed flock.

Numbers of Little, Great and Intermediate Egrets have also been steadily
building up in Late April/May as have Straw-necked and Sacred Ibis.
