I thought that was a given George, which is why I didn't mention it!! I
have mentioned in the past though that many of the newer topo maps
(1:100,000) have the UTM grid marked in addition to the AMG - this is a
direct concession to all the GPS users out there. I understand that
Australia will eventually be shifting away from AMG to a new UTM-based
grid, which will integrate maps/GPS to a greater extent than is
currently the case. UTM and AMG are not identical; they vary by a
couple of hundred metres, which of course if not far from being within
the error range of the GPS signal degraded by 'selective availability'
(courtesy US DoD).
