Trevor, In recent years I have regularly encountered flocks of 30-40 of this species feeding on the sporting ovals of suburban Willoughby, about 10 km north of the Sydney CBD. 50+ years ago this bird did not exist in Sydney but was released into the wild in the 1940s. A small number of other releases followed, probably as late as the 1970s. It is now common in Sydney.
