As a newcomer to Cairns I am still finding good birding spots and learning what is local! However, on Friday afternoon I ventured down a fishing track off Moore St. at the northern end of Trinity Beach, Cairns and found a pair of Sooty Oystercatchers fossicking on some rocks. They are unusual in the Cairns area. I am thoroughly enjoying birding in this area and the temperatures have been cooler than elsewhere south of about Mackay!! Jan England |
