Hi there John,
Yes, I've just been fencing a creekline adjacent to my Forty-spotted
pardalote colony (here on Inala, Bruny Island, Tasmania) and during this
time noticed several forty-spots together (up to 10 at a time) obviously
playing with and chasing each other. Almost all of these too, are young
birds. They were even playing in the Blackwood trees above our heads (they
obviously haven't learned yet that they are supposed to be specific to
whitegums, Eucalyptus viminalis). I was nearly impaled on more than one
occasion! Great to see as they have obviously had a successful breeding
season this year. Maybe its a pardalote sort of thing to do??? Cheers, Tonia.
