I had a great week-end in the valley with American birder Dianna
Churchill who is getting an impressive Aus. list.
Highlights included Stubble Quail every where, Turquoise Parrots, Little
Lorikeets Plum-headed Finches, Speckled Warbles, Black-chinned HE, 150 +
Little Raven but missed Chestnut-rumped Heathwren. Many of the Diamond
Firetails and other finches were carrying grass while the Rufous
Songlarks and Singing Bushlarks were displaying as there is good grass
growth with seed heads forming.
Stayed at the house of April Mills, where the official Regent HE
surveyor stays, who has room for about 5 at very reasonable rates and
you can see many of the areas birds on her property, which is being
developed as a sanctuary. Her phone number is 02 63797326.
Edwin you have to keep up the pace next weekend.
Cheers Chris
