Hi, does anyone have any details of successful artificial nestboxes for
Barn Owls? // THANKS! Elinor Scambler

In Malaysia nesting boxes have been used extensively to increase the owl
populations in oil palm plantations with the owls acting as a means of
biological control of rodents. They also pile up the dead fronds of the palms
in rows between the trees, which encourages any rodents to shelter there,
this also encourages snakes (ie Cobras) which further keeps the rodent
population in check. It may be worthwhile contacting the Malaysian Nature
Society for further details.

Cheers
Stuart Dashper.
