Del Richards called me today and advised that there were large numbers of
swallows in North East Queensland at the moment. Up to 43 Red-rumped Swallow
and 19 Barn Swallow were present in the Mossman area NE QLD on the 17th
January 1998. Anyone interested in finding out more information should
contact Del directly.

This would have to be the largest concentration of Red-rumped Swallow to
reach
Australia to date. This year they are more common than Welcome Swallows.
