SYDNEY, NSW PELAGIC TRIP REPORT 13th December 1997
Trip Summary:
A slow start but a great day. We headed East of Sydney to the local sea
mount known as Brown's Mountain and then further. The best birds for the
day were attracted to our main chuming location being 34.07'S 151.42'E.
Highlights were fine views of both Black and Goulds Petrel. The
Providence Petrel was a stunning juvenile and may well be the last one for
this season as may the Wandering Albatross which has become an unusual bird
for December.
Conditions:
Fine and partly overcast.
Water temperature 22.1C once beyond the shelf.
Departed at 7.00 am and returned at 3.00 pm.
Predominently North-East to South East winds 15-20 Knots
Reached 31.0 Nautical Miles East of Sydney.
