I'm sure some Aussie birders must have seen blue rockthrush in Malaysia, I saw one on one of the little islands just off Kota Kinabalu. We get them in Japan on rocky outcrops. I have never seen nor heard of one being seen inland. The blue rockthrush has a mostly blue upper half and a chestnut brown lower back and stomach, it is a stunning bird. The female is a mottled greying brown color with no evidence of blue. Definately a bird to be found on coastlines and near rocks. There is also a white -tailed blue rockthrush but I have never seen one. Kieran Daly |
