A message the other day from Peter Woodall prompts me to suggest a little project for those of you waiting for the next wave of spring migrants. Peter was comparing his garden bird counts from 1979 to the present. It might be interesting to compare records made ten or twenty years apart at the same location. How many of us are in a position to do this? And does it really tell us much at all? Probably not, as individuals, but if we put our data together it might reveal some trends? What do you think? We might start a BIRDING thread here ..... Russell Woodford PS Today I added Long-billed Corella to my garden list. I haven't seen them within about 10Km of here before. |
