birds nesting in odd places

I heard a story some years ago about a European Robin which made its nest
underneath the bonnet of a car (on top of the air-filter). By the time the
car's owners had realised what was happening they had already driven on
several trips, so they concluded that short trips would not do the
eggs/nestlings any harm and contined to use their car. They would always
return to find one or other parent waiting with a beak full of food.
Eventually the young fledged and then the car owners could use the car for
longer trips again.
