During a family holiday at Depot Beach NSW on 19-22 December 96 I squeezed in several walks around Murramarang National Park including Durras Mountain and the State Forest trails on north side of Durras Lake. Total of 65 species recorded, highlights as follows: Square-tailed Kite: 2 over tall eucalypt forest adjacent to caravan park, Depot Beach, 21/12/96. Hooded Plover: 1-2 on Pebbly Beach and Tranquil Beach, 21/12/96. Scarlet Honeyeater: several calling in canopies of tall flowering eucalypts, Depot Beach, 20/12/96. Black-faced Monarch: singles at several localities in Murramarang NP, 21-22/12/96. Roger Jaensch Wetlands International phone: 06-2500779 fax: 06-2500799 email: |
