Last year on the Challenge Bird Count, Margaret Cameron's team discovered
6 Wood Sandpipers at Hospital Swamp near Geelong, SW Victoria. Many
people enjoyed the easy views of those birds. This year, Margaret's team
discovered 3 Wood Sandpipers at the same spot again. On Sunday, Stuart
Dashper, Susan Myers & I got pretty good views of 2 Wood S/Ps, but not
where they were last year. Yesterday they were in Hospital Swamp proper,
near where Hospital Swamps Road peters out into the swamp (HS Rd is off
Lake Road, which in turn takes off from the Geelong-Barwon Heads Road just
past the "township" of Connewarre). Good luck if you go looking for them.
