On a recent Field Nats. Club Vic. trip to Jilpanger Scrub (approximately 30 km east of Edenhope in western Victoria) a mallee fowl was sighted along one of the four wheel drive tracks. This was unexpected as it is well south of the Little Desert and is heath/woodland rather than mallee. Other interesting animals seen included southern scrub robin, Latham's snipe, white browed babblers, striped legless lizard and western pigmy possum. Stuart Dashper. |
