No, this is not about the Goods & Services Tax, rather the Grey Shrike-Thrush. We put a small amount (half a cup a day) of mixed seed out to attract birds to our yard (and no, I don't want to debate the rights and wrongs of this). Usually, this is eaten by Galahs and Crested Pigeons, but lately a Grey Shrike-Thrush has been picking up sunflower seeds, carrying them to a nearby tree, and hammering them on an exposed root to break them open before swallowing the kernel and going back for another one. Is this normal behaviour for this species? Paul Osborn |
