For those following the forest debate - faulkner and Beddall have released their media statement about the woodchip licences and DFAs (Deferred Forest Areas). Things are not good for the birdies eg. - virtually no account taken of threatened species in the process (they are still logging box/ironbark forest - say goodbye to Regent Honeyeaters and a few other species over the next centuary) - no account of large forest owls etc.. If you feel like writing to a minister or paper or two - now is the time to act cheers Hugh Possingham ==================================================================Article 16608 of rec.birds: Path: sol.ccs.deakin.edu.au!harbinger.cc.monash.edu.au!simtel!pravda.aa.msen.com!spool.mu.edu!usenet.eel.ufl.edu!gatech!newsfeed.internetmci.com!news.sprintlink.net!in2.uu.net!tcsi.tcs.com!agate!msunews!news |
