trip report from yeppoon (central queensland coast) this morning. greenshank 18 whimbrel 12 eastern curlew 140 red capped plovers 70 curlew sandpipers 12 red necked stints 90 mongolian plovers 430 golden plover 7 grey plover 2 sharp tailed sandpiper 8 pied oystercatcher 6 ruddy turnstone 1 bar tailed godwit 25 beach thick knee 2 sanderling 4 pied stilt 4 unidentified large waders 30 caspian tern 2 little tern 280 crested tern 500 common tern 70 gull billed tern 32 numbers of common and little terns were lower than 10 days ago (150 and 1200 respectively). probably the missing terns are migrating down the coast. number of eastern curlews up from 110 to 140. no banded or leg flagged birds were seen. anthony mitchell //////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// |
