Hi Russell!

Thanks for your answer about the Phillipines. I have Birds of Thailand and
have found it very useful on my 2 trips to Beideihe, China (Springs 92 & 94),
especially the warblers section. Beside carrying the big and heavy duPont's
Birds of the Philippines, I was planning on bringing one of the Asian guides.
I'm still debating between bringing the small Pocket Guide to the Birds of
Borneo (reprint of Smythies' plates), or MacKinnon. I'm afraid I won't be
able to find room for more, especially if I bring the scope. I'm also
bringing the small but very good Waterbirds of Asia (1993). Field tested with
great success on my last trip to Beideihe, this book covers Divers to Terns
from Pakistan to Wallacea, the Philippines and NE Siberia.

I'll let you know how we do, but so far it doesn't seem easy. I probably
should have flown to Sydney instead, now that Continental resumed service
from Guam!
