Has anyone done this successfully?
I'm trying to run SLIP over an RS-422 line at 115200 baud using a port on the
TS-SER4 board and the TS-7260 linux board.
The 2.4.26-ts11 kernel is recompiled to support 12 com ports and the SLIP
drivers.
The TS-SER4 board contains the RS-422 drivers and is jumpered for RS-422
operation. I also run peekpoke 8 0x11e00237 0x80 to enable RS-422 operation.
I have two systems connected with a special RS-422 crossover cable. When
testing RS-232 connections, I use an RS-232 null modem cable and configure the
board for RS-232 operation.
Here's what works and what doesn't (using the TS-SER4 COM-D port on both ends):
1. Running picocom and RS-232 communications works OK. I can communicate in
both directions.
1. Running picocom and RS-422 communications works OK. I can communicate in
both directions.
2. Running SLIP (slattach) and RS-232 communications works OK. I can configure
sl0 and transfer ethernet packets in both directions.
3. Running SLIP (slattach) and RS-422 communications does not work!! I can
configure sl0, but there is no transfer of ethernet packets over the line!
Something must be different in the way that picocom and slattach access the
port, but I have no idea what.
Any help or ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks,
Ron
