[ts-7000] Re: apt-get problem

hello:
thank you all for the support offered , it is really appreciatted. 
I try all the advices and manage to do some stuffs, for example installing 
'setserial'
apt-get install setserial
. However when trying the same for other utilities I get some errors.as show 
below:

:root# apt-get install scanport
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package scanport
:root# apt-get install build-essentials
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
E: Couldn't find package build-essentials

How can i solve that?, or the packages that I am trying are not available for 
the Current Debian Sarge version?
