Thanks Mike. There are lots of ways to skin a cat as it were. Jesse's suggestion of modifying the FPGA seems to be a good one here, if he has tested it well. Apparently, a high resolution timer is not the primary goal here. I would point out that if Jesse was this responsive to all customers I would feel no need to help them out. I don't know the specifics of your requirements (for example do you need a high quality TCP-IP stack...) but for C programmable hard real time I like the XMOS parts.
