Yes, I found Dillon crond in /usr/sbin, but how do I get it to work?
Looking at the C source code, it appears that it looks in
/var/spool/cron/crontabs, but if I put a crontab file there, crond says
"ignorming crontab" at startup. If I move the crontab up one level to
/var/spool/cron, crond starts without the "ignoring" message, but
doesn't execute the commands in crontab at the specified times. I have
simple commands, like echo 'Hello' and date.
I also created a cron.hourly directory in /var/spool/cron/crontabs, and
put a simple shell script there. But the script is not executed on the hour.
So a regular crontab doesn't work, and a script in cron.hourly doesn't run.
Anyone know what Dillon crond is looking for, and where?
Thanks to all.
