A new question.

I have successfully developed a simple communication program which sends bytes
back and fourth between my pc and my 7553 though the 9448. What I want to know
now is how the login process which is executed through the getty command found
in the /etc/inittab file works? Reading the man pages, I have learned that
getty should call login. However, my experience on the board 7553 is that no
login is requested when I connect over the serial port. The question is why
does this happen. Not the philisophical why, but rather the procedural why.
How does this behaviour come about and what set of files do I need to inspect
to trace the behaviour through the shell boot process?

Thanks
Fieran Mason-Blakley
