Sujeeth,

When you first power on the board it boots to a shell in the initrd where there is no real shutdown command.  It mounts Debian's filesystem at /mnt/root/ and adds several directories there to the PATH variable so 'shutdown' is still found.  However init will be at /mnt/root/sbin/init so it will not function as intended.  The linuxrc script does not mount any filesystems as read/write so it is safe to pull the power while at this shell.  Though in Debian you will still want to do a full shutdown.

The wiki is still in development, but you may want to read at least this section:

Best Regards,

Hi all,

I am Sujeeth and I am working on TS7800 for one of my projects. When I tried to shutdown the board using any shutdown command I get this error message.

shutdown: /dev/initctl: No such file or directory
shutdown: cannot execute /sbin/init

I tried Google it and found few threads related to debian on servers and it does not seem to work in TS7800. Anyone has fix for this. Your help is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Sujeeth.
