Ryan,

The TS-7553 or any of the Cavium processor series will not be able to run any later versions of Debian.  Lenny was the last distribution to include OABI support and everything after that release will be EABI.  The Cavium processor supports most of the EABI instructions, but not thumb instructions which are used in the newer distributions.  Even so, we typically do not release newer images for Debian releases after a board has gone into production.

If you need a specific package to be more up to date you can always rebuild it and any dependencies to use a later version.  Otherwise there are some community projects for other distributions.  The OpenEmbedded project has support for the TS-7500 (which should be compatible with the TS-7553 as well):
