Hi folks,
I'm working with a 7552 and the DB9 port is giving me a bit of a fit. I think
I just don't completely understand what I'm looking at. If I'm reading the
wiring diagram correctly, it looks like it has the necessary pins for two RS232
ports. So, correct me if I'm wrong, but I should be able to plug an RS232
serial device with a standard DB9 plug into the port and I should be able to
communicate with it. Yes?
I also have a black Y cable that breaks out into 2 DB9 ports. Not sure if I'm
reading the diagram correctly, but if I'm following it, I should be able to
actually be able to talk to two different RS-232 ports using this cable.
Again, please correct me if I'm wrong.
So, if that's all correct, then I think what I need is for someone to give me
an example of how to use xuartctl to enable these ports. I already have
/dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyS1 device nodes, but I've been playing with them and
don't seen any data coming over those connections. I'm pretty sure /dev/ttyS0
points to my serial console anyway, since it's called out in /etc/inittab. I
don't know what the deal is with /dev/ttyS1.
So, if there's anyone willing to give out some free advice about using RS232
devices and the DB9 port on the front of this thing, I would greatly appreciate
the help.
Cheers.
