My guess is that the TS7200 board (TS's first arm SBC) initially
had an EP9301 (I have one of these boards), and I believe there were
issues with the internal ADC in the EP9301 which were probably fixed in
later chips in the family.
Later the internal ADC on other boards, certainly on the TS7260.
The MAX197 is certainly better.
