this is the error i get when i try to load the matrix-keypad module
it doesn't happen all the time though

[   21.340000] matrix-keypad matrix-keypad: failed to request GPIO14 for COL2
[   21.360000] matrix-keypad: probe of matrix-keypad failed with error -16
