Oh, sorry, yeah, I had zero success with 2.4. Only way to get my USB760 modem
to work was under 2.6. I'm using a TS-7400.

I doubt a USB mobile broadband modem would work with 2.4. According to
wikipedia, support for E220 was added in 2.6.20. I'd suggest upgrading
your kernel.
