WOOT! I bought one of these puppies from Amazon:
StarBase USB 2.0 Wireless LAN 802.11g High Gain WiFi Adapter with 9dBi Dipole
Antenna
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002C79BU4/ref=pd_lpo_k2_dp_sr_2?pf_rd_p=486539851&pf_rd_s=lpo-top-stripe-1&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_i=B002S8RDAC&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_r=14H5PYCN40CNVFMTABGA
Of course, buyer beware. Amazon/StarBase/BlueProton got the chipset wrong.
It's not a Realtek chipset but rather a Ralink 73 chipset. Not a problem.
Drivers for this are in the mainline. It does want a firmware file which I
found in a driver download.
But, I'm now running this thing in Ad-hoc mode and talking to it from my Mac.
Yeah, baby! I love it when a plan comes together.
