I've had mixed results with three different USB audio dongles.
The Turtle Beach works great but it's spendy compared to some others.
The Syba works well too ($9.99 from Amazon)
Then there is the el-cheapo $3.49 or even much less devices. These are really
dependent on how recent the drivers are...I think.
Bottom line on the hardware is whether or not you're building a
production-quantity system and need to save money or just a one-off system.
Since I'm trying to build a product, every dollar counts.

As for the drivers, if you're sticking to a 2.4 kernel on the 7260, you do need
to build audio and USB audio drivers and load them. OSS works if you want
something simple.

On other boards like the 7350, I found the audio under 2.6.21 to be less than
stellar. ALSA players kept having buffer problems and OSS was a little raspy
or barky. I was never able to upgrade just the ALSA drivers from 1.0.14 IIRC
to the current version. I ended up going whole hog and building a 2.6.34
kernel which has 1.0.23 ALSA drivers IIRC and the audio seems much better.
