Hi

1) Is it because the kernel panics?
  If so, have you configured it to reboot on panic using panic=xxx as a boot
flag? In my experience the Linux kernels do not automatically reboot after a
panic failure.

2) Are you seeing anything in the logs . You should be able to see a message
saying that init is starting up ,e.g. "init: Switching to runlevel: 6". This,
of course, depends on which OS/init you are running. The log-messages just
before the startup notice can be interesting.

3) Check the logs for oopses
