Hi People, Please help am stuck ! !, i download the ts kernel source for 2.6.29 from TS website, and .config from
The config file was for 2.6.23, but just answered default options for the config diffs and issued the below commands, and the
kernel compiled successfully.
make CROSS_COMPILE=../../crosstools/arm-none-linux-gnueabi/bin/arm-none-linux-gnueabi- ARCH=arm <make was successfull
make CROSS_COMPILE=../../crosstools/arm-none-linux-gnueabi/bin/arm-none-linux-gnueabi- ARCH=arm INSTALL_MOD_PATH=../modules modules_install /sbin/depmod -F ./System.map -v 2.6.29-tside_2 -b../modules > ../modules/lib/modules/2.6.29-tside_2/modules.dep
<everything was successful till here> then i created the binary from the raw vmlinux file using the command ../../crosstools/arm-none-linux-gnueabi/bin/arm-none-linux-gnueabi-objcopy -O binary vmlinux test.bin
<test.bin> was created successfully. BUT,after
I copied the binary to the tftp folder, and loaded it to the SBC. After that i dont see any other operation other than the Using base address line. Am i missing something here.
I have not created the root file system yet. I just wanted to load the kernel first, and see if it initializes properly...before all the prompt screen comes.
RedBoot> load -r -v -b 0x00218000 -h 192.168.0.45 test.bin Using default protocol (TFTP) | Raw file loaded 0x00218000-0x0049305f, assumed entry at 0x00218000
RedBoot> exec -c "console=ttyAM0,115200 root=/dev/mtdblock1" Using base address 0x00218000 and length 0x0027b060 Please help me with this, and tell me if im missing something here. Also if ok, could someone share / (point to a website) their working kernel source with the .config file. Thanks Balaji R
