[ts-7000] Matching the toolchain to the distro?

I've been able to build crosstools and a kernel against the 2.6.21-ts sources 
just fine under Debian desktop.  I've also been able to use the 
debian-lenny-eabi-armel-512mb-apr092009 distro on a 7350.  But there is some 
sort of mismatch here.  For example, the fixdep script from the 2.6.21-ts 
sources as built by my toolchain doesn't run under the lenny distro.  I get a 
"cannot execute binary file" error.  I've also had problems trying to use 
driver modules that I've built with my toolchain under this lenny distro i.e. 
insmod can't load them.

It also begs the question of what was the procedure TS used to make the above 
lenny distro.
