Robotics?

They are well suited to applications needing little to no UI, low
power requirements and a environment which is near identical to a
standard PC. Thus they are ideally suited to robotics.

Also, robotics provides a somewhat broader skill base. As a software
developer I generally don't worry too much about the environment
because in software things are predictable. Introducing hardware and
the fuzzy nature of reality can provide software challenges that pure
software only projects don't provide. You get to learn about materials
and engineering in the real world.
