I am trying to use a Verizon (NovaTel) USB760 cell modem on a TS-7800 running
the stock TS-Linux 2.6.21. Everything I have read/googled implies that this
device initially is detected (always, not just the first time) as a CD (e.g.
/dev/sr0) which needs to be ejected (via linux eject command) in order to cause
the USB760 device to transition to its next state of operation as a modem.
That's fine. Unfortunately, I see no "eject" command on the TS-Linux 2.6.21
distribution. I've tried downloading the 2.6.21 source and rebuilding with more
and more subsystems enabled (like SCSI CDROM support), still no luck. Any ideas
about how I can go about adding the CD support I seem to need in order to get
this modem working?
To summarize, I believe I need to be able to:
1) See the USB760 device initially as a CD at /dev/sr0 or similar (instead of
/dev/sda as it is doing now)
2) Be able to "eject" the CD so that the modem then appears at /dev/ttyUSB0
(currently the only things I see added under /dev when the device is inserted
are scd0, sda, sg0, sg1, usbdev2.3_ep00/06/08/85/87).
Maybe /dev/scd0 is the CD I am looking for as opposed to the standard /dev/sr0?
Still, I need to be able to eject it somehow.
Thanks in advance...
